Advice for Pioneer SX-580

I hope this is the right place to post...?

I am running a JVC QL-Y5F turntable, a Pioneer SX-580 receiver, and Yamaha NS-A09A speakers.

Some well-meaning friends played with the system one night when I wasn't home and it now appears that I have absolutely no sound on my L side, either from the A or B channel... I know that it's not the speaker(s), as I already tried each one in each port...

I have NO IDEA what my friends did, but I'm assuming that they blew the entire L side somehow...?!?!

In the meantime, I am obviously just running one speaker now from the R side, channel A... While this is not ideal, it'll do for until I have funds built up again to have it fixed... My questions are:

1) Is is possible just to blow one side like that?

2) Am I making the problem somehow worse by just running one speaker from one side, one channel?

Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks!!

There are two speaker fuses inside, one for each channel. They are 4 amp; do not use a higher fuse rating. If you are lucky only the fuse is bad.
