Fisher DD-280 Stereo Cassette deck

We have a 1981 Fisher DD-280 Stereo cassette deck and when it is turned on, everything looks like it is working, but the gear that would turn or advance a tape is turning slowly. Won't turn at all when a tape is put in to play. Not sure if it is just a belt - ther is a skinny black belt that turns when it is power on. Any suggestions or does anyone have a repair/service manual for this?

Re: Fisher DD-280 Stereo Cassette deck

The clutch mechanism may be at fault. Sometimes these can be pulled apart, cleaned, and re-assembled; sometimes they need to be replaced (if available). The clutch is an assembly made up of two plastic discs with a felt pad in between; it will usually have a spring for tension on one side.
