Can anybody make a reccomendation on a product to clean and rejuvinate the pinch roller on my teac x-7r? Tape, sometimes wants to roll of the pinch rollers. Thanks.
Many say water is best, others say some of the special rejuvenators on the market are good. Many product will clean a roller, but I have never found anything that will return the softer "Rubber" quality to a roller. I personally use acetone to clean them as best as possible. I use a terrycloth/microfiber material, soak it with acetone, and rub it continuously arounf the roller. The acetone first removes the oxides, then the slick surface, and finally a small amount of the rubber. Do this in a continuously around the circumference to prevent flat spots. And don't take of a lot of the rubber (black will appear on your cloth. I found this restores the roller as best as possible.
If the roller is not hard, but starting to get soft or gummy, it is gone and get a new or used one to replace it.
