Built 1971 - 1973, 2x 30 Watt into 8 Ohm
My father owns one of these units (Marantz 2230) and has had it since it was new in the 1970s. I'm not going to tell you that it was super powerful or that you could crank up the volume with your (his, really) JBL L-100s and not hear distortion. But listening at reasonable levels this unit performed quite well.
It does have one flaw. The power supply transformer does not supply enough current and perhaps the power supply electrolytic capacitors could be larger. When the unit is operated at high volume, the display panel lighting changes intensity in syncopation with the music. So I think that a bit more power supply amperage might have been in order here.
