Key to a receiver with this sweet warm tone and low power is to get really efficient speakers (mine are full movement at 3w/channel). I used this mostly as amplifier for my decks (AKAI, TEAC; both reel-to-reel and stereo cassette); and listening to live New Year concerts with friends, etc.

The receiver always worked for me and filled any room I put it in with great sound and stereo displacement.

When I was a young boy, we really couldn't afford more popular stereos/receivers. AKAI was really making a name for itself due to quality and it was usually less expensive than most. The AA-1135 is a great, in the middle, receiver and I was fortunate enough to purchase one in like-new condition. I was able to purchase it for $80 when it trended for $150 at the time. Great receiver with good options and it really had the warm sound, ample power and good bass that I like. It sounded just as I remembered it. However, I am looking for an OWNERS MANUAL(not service)for this unit, I woild greatly appreciate anyone who may have an idea where I may obtain one.

As an owner of this I have to say the sound is extremely clean and its a very attractive piece!. I also own a Marantz 2265 and I can still say that this Akai is a very nice model in both appearance and sound. If you have a chance to get one, grab it! You wont be dissapointed!

re: AA-1135

Nice site. Thanks for link to service manual in case I need to refer to it in the future.

I am an original owner of AKAI AA-1135 receiver and CS-702D tape deck -- always enjoyed the sound coupled with very efficient EMANATION speakers (25-year warranty on speakers is about 11 years out of warranty now -- still sound great even when receiver volume is just turned on).

[To SaintedSons] If I dig up the owner's manual I will post if you don't find one already
