re: AM-52

Hi my name is carlos, I have a big issuer with this amplifer every single speaker there I use with this gets burn right away. please let me know what could I do to make it no happen anymore.
First time a had a regular speaker as 50w each.
Then I bought to technics at 140 w each.
And now everyone are burned off...
please help me.

re: AM-52

If its burned down all the loudspeakers voice coils or so , that´s meaned theres a DC from the amplifiers output. No DC from the amplifiers output ever ! With a simple multimeter you can check DC scale from the amplifiers output if theres a more than a few mV its OK. Never connect loudspeakers or headphones to the amplifiers if theres a more than a few DC mV from the amplifiers output ! Its a faulty then ! 30 or 40 years old electrolytic capasitors are mostly faulty - use fresh ones only !

re: AM-52

Hi carlos,

Do not use this amplifier anymore, it needs to be repaired if parts are available!! It seems that the output transistors are faulty and/or other components are breaking down in the output stage. Any speaker you use will get damaged like burning the crossover networks out.

This is quite an old amplifier now, made in the early 1990s.

I am of course assuming that you have connected the speaker polarity +/- the right way around with the correct impedance speakers.

So Just to repeat the amplifier is faulty!! and you need to take it to a qualified repair outlet, telling them exactly what is happening.

Best wishes

re: AM-52

I agree, but why speakers protection circuit doesn't work? The relay is controlled by specialized integrated circuit HA12002(Hitachi).It has to stop speakers if there is a DC from the amplifiers outputs.I think it's a bad decision for protective circuit to be powered from the main rectifier. If any of the output transistors are faulty, this violates the power supply of the main amplifier, but also of HA 12002.Voltage drop and the integrated circuit can't work normally.
