This review applies to the original Formula 6. I purchased the first version new back around 1973. I compared them to Cerwin Vega, JBL's and such and selected the BICs. The first version had the Biconex horn tweeter and the phenolic ring super tweeter. Later version changed out the phenolic ring units. I enjoy listening to these speakers, very efficient, nice low end (bass reflex design) but no so overloaded on the bottom end that the mid and highs suffer. For people that are using amps or receivers in 30-100 watt range these speakers will not tax or strain the unit and they perform equally as well listening to Black Sabbath songs as they do listening to Scottish bagpipe music.

The BIC formula 6-1A really surprised me. I think they sound as good or better then JBL L100's, Excellent bass and good mids and highs, very efficient and using a 60 wpc amp you wont be able to turn it up to 1/2 volume in a large room. Very under rated speakers in my opinion. Don't let the BIC name fool you. Bad point, almost always the grilles have disintigrated but new repro's can be had on Ebay.
