I've owned this machine since circa1996. It has been great with proper cleaning and maintenence. I know DAT has fallen from popularity in favor of other, lossy digital formats, but it's GREAT for backing up your expensive vinyl. This machine performs that task flawlessly, and it doubles as a DA converter too, at 32, 44.1 and 96 @ 20 bit. Somthing to consider even with a non-working transport if you want an inexpensive way to get analog audio out of your modern TV into your vintage system.
