The Jason Amplifier J2-10 mkIII is probably the most advanced design of stereophonic amplifier available in England today.
It is a complete dual 10 watt amplifier with adequate reserve of power. In fact 15 watts sine wave can be measured at low distortion.
The integral pre-amplifier has sufficient sensitivity to play directly from a magnetic pick-up or tape head. The J2-10 also may be used as a very satisfactory single channel amplifier if the user is not yet ready for stereophonic reproduction.
To obtain stereo, it is necessary to have a minimum of two separate channels from the beginning at the microphone right through to the loudspeakers, and these channels must be completely independent. Two separate amplifiers could be used, but for convenience they are built on the same chassis with ganged controls.
It can be seen therefore, that if the sound source is on the left then it may be reproduced from the left hand speaker while if the soloist is in the middle then the sound source will be reproduced by both speakers and will appear to come from a point between them.
