Logic Control Cassette Deck (1983)

add a review add a review

This year, even our least expensive model has two of our most useful features - a logic control mechanism and LED multi-peak indicators.

The first ensures that operation is as smooth as even our most advanced decks. And the second ensures that every tape you make will provide peak performance, even if you use high-performance metal tape. The KD-V11 from JVC - the best cassette deck value you'll find anywhere.

Anyone who has owned or operated a cassette deck with piano type controls will appreciate the superb luxury of the soft-touch logic controls of the KD-V11. Instead of using noisy solenoids, we've used the inertial power of the motor to operate all mode changes.

Now, with only a soft touch, any operation mode is quickly, silently and reliably selected. A logic system makes it impossible to jam, stretch or break tapes, or damage the transport in any way.

We've constructed the Rec/Play head of the KD-V11 out of Metaperm, an alloy that provides pure Hi-Fi sound with extended, low-noise response. The special surface contour of the head prevents an unnatural rise in mid-bass response known as the contour effect. Its high linearity makes it perfect for use with all tape formulations including metal, the tape of audiophiles.

Every person who has ever used a cassette deck has undoubtedly noticed the annoying hiss sound during quiet passages. This is due to the limited dynamic range of the tape, which, in turn, is related to slow tape speed and narrow track width.

Over the last few years, Dolby B noise reduction (and the essentially similar ANRS) has become the way to reduce hiss to manageable levels. At frequencies above 5kHz, hiss is reduced by up to 10dB. You'll discover your music sounds cleaner and clearer. A built-in MPX filter assures flat response when recording FM stereo broadcasts.

To ensure that every recording you make is at an optimum level for low noise and distortion, we've included our accurate LED multi-peak indicators - one 6-LED set per channel.

The KD-V11 uses a sophisticated arrangement consisting of a toothed rack, an oil-damped gear/disc and a spring-loaded brake shoe to ensure smooth opening and closing of the cassette compartment lid. Besides convenience, this design means greater reliability.
