Logic Control Cassette Deck (1983)

Just because a component promises full high-fidelity performance doesn't mean it has to have a high price. The KD-V22 is the perfect example of what we mean.

It has numerous features previously found exclusively on top of the line models only a few short years ago. These include Dolby C noise reduction, a logic control mechanism for soft-touch operation, and a Meta-perm head for recording metal tapes.

Obviously, high fidelity components are still great bargains in today's world.

For correct operation, Dolby C noise reduction requires a precision transport and wide-range electronic circuitry. While other manufacturers have applied Dolby C NR only to their high end models, JVC has applied it to nearly the whole line up because every JVC model meets the strict requirements.

Now you can enjoy 20dB of noise (hiss) reduction between 1kHz and 10kHz and expanded dynamic range. We've also included Dolby B noise reduction so you can play your existing library of Dolby B (ANRS) encoded tapes. An automatic MPX filter lets you record FM stereo broadcasts with better fidelity.

The mechanism of the KD-V22 features soft-touch logic control. Rather than relying on noisy solenoids, it receives all the power it needs from the drive motor. This accounts for the quiet, reliable operation of the KD-V22.

The logic control system protects both tapes and mechanism against possible damage that may occur when changing modes of operation.

When you record on metal tape you need a head with high magnetic flux density and high linearity, properties that are specialities of JVC's Metaperm record/play head. It has a highly polished surface that is hyperbolically curved for better low-frequency response. The head is highly resistant to the build up of foreign matter.

For good recording results you need an accurate, fast acting metering system, like the multi-peak indicator system of the KD-V22. It has six LEDs per channel that follow the dynamic level of the music with lightning speed. Intervals were carefully chosen for best recording results.

A handy LED indicator shows the direction and speed (play, fast forward or rewind) of the tape. Not only is it useful, but it gives the KD-V22 a classy, distinctive look.
