re: TD-V542

I got a V542-deck, going too fast and unstable. After changing the two SMD-caps on the motor-board it was fine again. For me it's one of the best cassette device that I've met.

Be careful with soldering, the circuit is a very sensitive thin-layer isolated print on a metal-plate!

I replaced the 2 caps on my 541 with 10mfd 35 volt caps.they wasnt surface mount type they was regular size caps and i had long leads so they sat to the side of the board.it works great now.seems this was a major problem with those caps.
