re: KA-300

Just repaired one of these classic old integrated amplifiers!

Not a lot of this type of Kenwood amplifier around in Southern Africa these days - so they are well sought after by 'audiophiles'...

Primary diodes D3,4,5,6 had failed, caused by the original owner deciding to flip the power selector (under the chassis) from 220VAC (correct setting for South Africa) to 110VAC.
He said he wanted 'to boost the sound' (!)

Once DC power was restored, Q13 2SC2003 and Q15 2SA954 were found to be shorted, causing resistor R35 330 Ohm to burn and Q11 2SC1775 to overheat causing one of the 4A 32mm fuses to blow.

Once replacements were fitted, the amplifier was back in working condition.

Now to find a buyer with d-e-e-p pockets!
