IMO, this is the amp (well, the 1200b) to own, if you collect Marantz integrated amps. Simple, reliable, well built and fabulous sounding, the 1200b will delight listeners today. Like all old Marantz amps and recievers, watch for poorly selected replacement transistors. All early Marantz amps used carefully matched transistors for low distortion. And the 1200b delivers just that. In spades. Clean, powerful and capable of dealing with tough, 4 Ohm loads. The 1200b is the amp I most regret selling. The output stage is identical to that used in the 240/250 power amps, whilst the preamp is a simplified version of the 3300 preamp. Beautifully built in Southern California, the 1200b is (or should be) a collector's dream.
