I have been using this Marantz MR255 for the last two months and I have found it to be an excellent receiver. I have found the sound quality to be crisp and clear with no noticable distortion. I can turn the volume to the limit and although the output seems quite high for 50 watts, the sound is still remarkably undisturbed. I am a product of the 70's and the warmth of an old Marantz receiver is something that you never forget. I have it hooked up to a Dual CM-455-1M turntable and a set of Dual 550b speakers and if you close your eyes Pink Floyd sounds as if the whole band is live in your livingroom. I have been using the Marantz 2235b for many years and although many di-hard Marantz 22 series lovers would argue, In my opinion this MR255 has a much better sound. I am far from being any kind of musical expert, far from it. Just a normal guy that enjoys good sound. So, if you get a chance to grab one of these receivers, if you can find one, my addvice, Grab On To It!
