This is a very neutral sounding pre-amp. Very Quiet with useful tone controls, an excellent phono section, and a great subsonic filter. Built like a tank.

re: Beta 20

I own one of these and find it to be a very nice sounding solid state preamp. It has a much warmer sound as compared to many more modern preamps. The only issue I have with my Beta 20 is the phono switch. The linkage from the front panel knob to the actual switch is not very good, necessitating that I position the front panel knob between the normal detents in order to get the phono section to work. Other then that, the unit has been trouble free and sounds quite nice. It has a lot of useful controls, including tone controls (something that is lacking on a lot of preamps now a days). All in all, this is a nice preamp.
