This very CD player caught me by surprise.

I have experienced tens [if not hundreds] of CD players, since mid-80's. I never figured, a very basic Philips CD player would convince me.

The Philips CD 690 just has the sound to it, I foremost love the softness to the high tones. I never found out about the DAC conventer, why would I as the ear tells this CD player sounds very comfortable. Never figured I would like a basic Philips product so much I kept it. Considering the price tag, this is nothing but a hit.
