It can not be compared with a high-end Hallicrafters from the same period, but with a good outdoor antenna, even the one band short wave band is doing a pretty good job. On the LW, I was able from Malmà¶ Sweden, to receive France Inter, which is at the very limit of the wave propagation on that frenquency. I didn't used it much on the MW, but it look like to do a pretty good job too.
Most of all, combined with the tone controll of the Quad 22, the sound is surprisingly good in almost any condition. So, for an AM tuner of that technology, I put it a 10 on 10.
