Absolutely stunning piece of equipment!
After a change of caps totally reliable and very nice sounding.
Hard to tell output versus input!!

One of the best R2R machine ever produced and with a rare 3 quartz controlled speeds and a built in mixer with RIAA preamplifier and tone control.
Very robust mechanics and discrete electronic components, even if sometimes electronics gives some troubles but always repairable. Easily calibrable with almost any type of tape. Excellent sound, especially the 2 track decks!

My A700 is a 2-track, 3.75, 7.5, and 15 IPS machine. The Nakamichi 1000 I purchased in Japan in 1974--my debut tour there as a pianist--showed this machine attached to a REVOX.

re: revox A700

Hi everyone, I have acquired this beast few months ago, replaced all Rifas in the power supply and for the motors, motors bearings, checked boards for solder cracks, cleaned all contacts, changed the hidden Rifa cap inline with main AC fuse. Checked tension damping fluid ,adjusted tape tension on the tension boards as per manual, cleaned and lubed rollers. I have also relapped the heads, checked azimuth and height. . YET, I still have few roblems:
There are no teflon anywhere with the pinch roller nor the smaller guide rollers, is this normal????
When powered it will take 10 to 15 seconds for the sound to start ,and I hear a click never heard this click before.( new problem)
after replacing the hidden cap next to the main fuse ,the take up motor became stronger, the left one still drags along with resonance when rewinding
IN play mode I hear alternating resonance ,probably coming from the tensioners.
Finally, THe sound is clear and crisp and the recording is excellent ,however, there is a significant difference in the bottom end between tape and source listening to the sound being recorded. Bass is significantly less in the reproduced sound.
