2/26/2015. Just finished a major recap on a sansui 1000, It has the best fm MPX section of any tube unit I have ever been exposed to. The bass is full and response is wonderful.
They used a odd tube for the outputs, a 25e5/pl36, a tv sweep tube?? But they work great and are very easy to obtain and inexpensive. I bought 4 mullards for $5.00 each from a surplus electronics firm in Nebraska.
I understand these were made only in 1963 and rare but I see them on ebay on occasion. Overall a beautiful tube receiver.
With sansui's legendary transformers and build quality this is a winner.
