This is a quite good CDP for its low end price. I'm guessing since it's not a Sherwood Newcastle this thing cost around $300 new. I've never had a transport read as quickly and reliably as this. Lots of other nice features like the ability to turn off the display from the remote. I've used its audio out but mostly used its digital out into a nice DAC. It has been highly modded and was worth all the effort.
Dynamat like stuff on the metal case to dampen it. Diodes upgraded. Lots of other interior tweaks for damping too like the crystal and transport. I also upgraded the IEC and it runs direct to the transformer primary. So this bypasses the switch , fuse and other crap impeding the power. It really helped. Not many should or will want to do this. I did this mod 6 years ago. I plug the CDP into a P-300 regen so even if it went into a dead short the P-300 would shut off in less than a second.
Anyway even stock this was a nice player and all these tweaks have really brought into a new league.
