I purchased a R-871 used from a resale shop. It's in perfect condition physical and functional, but no remote. Build quality is rock solid, well thought out interior layout, and buttons, knobs, etc feel firm, not like cheap plastic parts. The power supply is large and very heavy. Sound output is clean and mean. It seems to like being driven hard. Music can be heard direct or processed, nice feature, especially for a analog junkie like I am. Deminsions of sound are colorful, crisp, authoritative, and a little cold with pure digital sources.
Four video inputs!!!!, one tape, one CD, NO PHONO.
Two HDMI input, one output. Lots of component jacks. This receiver could be a video lovers wet dream. Not so much for the audio romantics love of music.
It's got XM radio capabilities, DVI also. All RCA jacks are golden, color coded too.
I'm unsure about a subwoofer hook up.
A remote is mandatory. Receiver is almost useless without it.
