Sony SRA-3

The Sony model SRA-3 is a complete stereophonic recording amplifier designed primarily to be used with the TC-263D tape transport which is furnished with a low impedance record head.

Because of it's versatility, the SRA-3 can also be operated with the TC-262D tape transport (having a high impedance record/playback head) or with any equivalent, by making a minor adjustment.

The unit features twin volume controls and VU meters.

User's Opinion

This preamp was fabulous in it's day. It was rock solid with incredible warmth. I recorded many hours of Voice and Acoustic Guitar through it, adding only a little reverb. The mirror-opposite VU's are easier to balance than a side-by-side configuration. The Sony TC-263D tape transport was lacking due to heavy tape hiss, but the Sony SRA-3 Preamp was terrific.
