Can I feed subwoofers through the Coupler?

I have a Yamaha RX-1130 Receiver and would like to know if subwoofers can be connected through the Coupler. What exactly is the Coupler's function?

Re: Can I fed subwoofers through the Coupler?

The coupler joins the preamp section to the power amp section.

This is intended for use with graphic equalizers, processors etc, where the signal from the preamp (after the volume control) is fed to the processor then back into the power amplifier.

You could use this to feed a subwoofer if you used a Y splitter to split the signal between the power amplifier and subwoofer.

Re: Can I fed subwoofers through the Coupler?

Please allow me to check out if I'm understanding you correctly, 1 goes to REC OUT, the 1 next to it goes MAIN IN and the foot of the Y feeds the sub, right?

Re: Can I fed subwoofers through the Coupler?

The split should be made at the Pre Out and Main in sockets. However, this will only work correctly where the subwoofer has stereo inputs. Otherwise you will only get the bass from one channel.

Re: Can I feed subwoofers through the Coupler?

THANKS!! This is very good news because I was wishing that I will be able to hook a subwoofer on each channel instead of a big one for both channels, allowing me to control the output from the Yamaha volume and balance controls . The floor standing speakers that were in my budget didn't excite me that much! I love bass!
Again, thanks a lot!!
