How to Connect a Marantz 2220B Receiver Amp to an AKAI 1730SS Reel to Reel Tape Recorder?

I have these old audio items. They were never top quality even when new, but they're okay and in very good condition.

Anyone know how to connect these two together AND which item to connect external speakers?

I am assuming the external speakers connect to the Marantz which has more ports.

My goal is twofold:
1) Play the reel to reel and listen to jazz recordings from the 50's and 60's.
2) Record "live music" into the reel to reel and have playback available.

I think that phono inputs are inputs with RIAA.For playback you can use AUX-input, and for recording from the receiver - headphone jack connected with the input of the AKAI.In this case your main amp and speakers are those of Marantz.

Hi -- There is a manual on the 2220b available to consult for the connections (Page 5) and more.
I've just had a look at it and with a set of dual phono leads to connect, you'll be up and away with full rec/playback ability. Just choose tape 1 or tape 2 input/output sets.
Happy listening.
