Kenwood model 11 II

What are some symptoms of this receiver not producing any sound. Has power just no sound.

Thanks
Dave

Re: Kenwood model 11 II

Pre-amp out-amp input jumpers not installed; protection relay engaged because there is a problem in the power amplifier; tape monitor switches in wrong position; blown fuses; power supply problem; speaker switch in wrong position; bad speakers; bad cables; poor connections in audio amp.

Re: Kenwood model 11 II

Thanks. The protection relay might be it, I went thru a lot of this list to eliminate most. A relay might be it. Has anybody worked on these before and if so where would this relay be?

Re: Kenwood model 11 II

If the relay is not coming on (and letting the audio signal pass to the speakers), then you have a problem in the amplifier. When the relay comes on you will hear a slight click.

How easy is it to check/replace amp of it is bad

Re: Kenwood model 11 II

Just about any defect in the power amp would cause the protection relay to stay off; the circuit is designed to detect any DC on the outputs, which indicates a component failure. You would need the services of a technician to troubleshoot an amplifier. It's possible you also have a power supply failure.
