Kenwood RXD M57 and clasification of Kenwood HiFi Systems and Audio Video

I has been looking for the service manual of a Mini HiFi system Kenwood RXD M57. I would appreciate than somebody could provide the service manual (and user manual).

Also I have found something strange in the Kenwood Library, it doesnt exist the category HiFi system, then the HiFi systems, as other brands, an HiFi System typically include an amplifier and several elements (e.g. CD player, cassette deck, tuner, etc). In the case of Kenwood they are under the category "Audio Video Systems" when they are not Video System.

Also if you look for example the RXD M55MD information, it is in the page "HM-585" (I do not know the origin of this denomination), but if you look the link of the service manual is "MD service manual (RXD-M55MD)" the correct link and component. Near all HM- 5xy, 6xy phantom pages have the correct link "RXD-M5y". This made really difficult to find some Kenwood HiFi systems, others Kenwood HiFi Systems are OK, for example I have an XD-502, that can be found in the web page with this title (but under the Audio Video Systems category).

I think it makes sense to correct this issue in order to make accesible the documentation of the affected equipments, if this is not changed those components doesn´t exist in the databases when you try to find information about them

Re: Kenwood RXD M57 and clasification of Kenwood HiFi ...

Hi,
The Audio Video Systems section is for audio and video systems. While you are the only person ever to say this is confusing, I agree a change to something like Systems wouldn't be a bad idea?

As for HM-535, this is the name of the system, while RXD-M55 is the name of the combi receiver included with the HM-535 system. MD would denote the version eg HM-535, HM-535MD etc but in this case was included erroneously.

For example if you go to a Kenwood dealer and order an HM-537 micro system, they will deliver a box with HM-537 written on the box and receipt. However in the box would be an RXD-M57 combi receiver and LS-M57 speakers. Regional variations, colours or component differences may be denoted by HM-537MP, HM-537WM etc

In the library the system page HM-537 would link to manuals for both the system and the individual components.

You can find the name of the system using the catalogue database.
https://www.hifiengine.com/database/hifi_database.php?model_type=cat&mak...

Note, where a system contains several individual components eg amplifier, cd player, tape deck, speakers, there will be a page for the system with links to the individual pages for the components.

The quickest way to find the page for a system component is to use the search box at the top of the page.

Carta a hifiengine
Dear JaS,
First of all, thanks a lot for keep up and running an invaluable web page for the owners of audio equipment. I have several vintage elements that in many occasions need service, and is something very important to me to have most services manuals that I can download from your excellent web page.

1.- In your email you said “Note, where a system contains several individual components eg amplifier, cd player, tape deck, speakers, there will be a page for the system with links to the individual pages for the components.”
Well, in the Kenwood HM-535 page: https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/kenwood/hm-535.shtml appear two links; a flyer an a service manual “RXD-M55” , any reference to others components of the pack (?). RXD-M55 is a module that include, the amplifier, radio, cassette deck and CD players, only loudspeakers are necessary. Loudspeakers should be in the “Type” loudspeaker section “Manufacturer” Kenwood.
A side note. In this page don´t appear technical information of this component, that could be derived from the service manual
Comment. If the page title were RXD-M55, surely it could be accessible from a google search. Otherwise RXD-M55 is not accessible from hifiengine insternal search functions.
2.- In your email you said “In the library the system page HM-537 would link to manuals for both the system and the individual components.”
Well, in the library search page have tried to find the HM-535. The value of the fields follows: Type “HiFi systems”, Manufacturer “Kenwood”, Model “HM-535”. Result ” sorry but no records matched your search criteria”. Could be the reason that HM-535 is in the category “Audio Video Systems”, being this category not included in the library field “Type” of hifiengine.com search page. Also, I have tried RXD-M55, with the same result.

3. If you launch a search in google of “Kenwood RXD-452 Manuals” it appears a link to https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/kenwood/xd-452.shtml
Inside from hifiengine page there is a link to a service manual (RXD-452) and also a flyer. Please note that the RXD-452 is an element similar to the RXD-M55, and also include amplifier, radio, cassette deck and CD players
Also, I cannot find the RXD-452 in a library search.
Result. The treatment of the RXD-452 is the correct to me, the treatment of the RXD-M55 is not correct to me and demonstrate some inconsistency. Then my proposal is to change the title of HM-535 page to RXD-M55. Also, this apply to other HM-xxx pages.
3. In your email, you say “The quickest way to find the page for a system component is to use the search box at the top of the page.” Well, I think that at least in the cases presented before, the “search ” function has been of little help,.
Best Regards,
Emilio

Re: Kenwood RXD M57 and clasification of Kenwood HiFi ...

Hi,
Components from component systems (separate amp, cd player etc) are listed separately and as a system, all in one systems (eg just a combined receiver and speakers) are listed on a page under the name of the system.

There is no way to search for RXD-452 in the systems section as it isn't a system. I might be able to add this feature in future when all of the systems from the library have been added to the HiFi Database? Also not every system from the library is in the HiFi Database, only the ones where I have typed in the specifications.

However, if you enter RXD-452 into the website search box at the top of every page, the first result is for the XD-452 library page and the word RXD-452 is marked in bold.

The reason technical information isn't on every page is because I haven't had the time to enter it yet.

I work on the site in my spare time and prioritise adding new manuals first, then images, then specifications. I've added specs for around 30K different components, but it takes time. I spent every evening for 3 months doing the first 10K.

JaS
