Paradigm monitor 9 tweeter repair

Bloodybeak's picture

I have Monitor 3's and stumbled across a pair of monitor 9's at a pawn shop and I picked them up for 200. One of the tweeters was shot, so I just cannibalized my monitor 3 tweeter since it was the same tweeter plate, but I do not want to leave my beloved Monitor 3's to sit and rot. Upon visual inspection, the voice coil seems in fine shape, no re soldering that needs to be done. Do you guys think if I would replace the Ferro fluid, would that be a possible fix, or is it possible that the voice coil is blown even though it appears to look okay to the naked eye.

Re: Paradigm monitor 9 tweeter repair

You would need to use an ohmmeter to check the coil resistance, or put a low level signal directly into the tweeter to test it.

I ran a signal directly to it, bypassing the x over, with the volume way down of course, no sound. I do not have an ohm meter to test it that way. Might have to pick one up actually.
