Pioneer A-400X No headphones

I have a Pioneer A400X amplifier. Unfortunately I cannot use a headphone with this amp (Realised after 19 years). I would like to connect my Pioneer cassette player to the amp and listen to it using headphones. Can some one help. I can do this with the Marantz CD player I have.

Sorry this really shows my age now.

Are you saying that the headphone jack doesn't work? If so, you could have a dirty jack, burnt out 330 ohm resistors at the jack, or bad connections to it.

A-400X has no headphone socket at all. The only output is through speakers and also through the cd player. As I don't have speakers I would like to use headphones. Is there anyway I can connect the speaker wires to a headphone socket?

You can install a headphone jack but you will need to put dropping resistors in series for safety (you don't want full power going to your headphones). Two 1 watt 330 ohm resistors will do. If you are not familiar with soldering I suggest finding a tech who can rig up a jack with wires and the resistors.
