Pioneer SX-850 with Pioneer SR-202 Reverb Amp as Preamp

Hi,

I am n00b to preamps. Does anyone know if the following will work?

The SX-850 has preamp in/out connections. The SR-202 reverb amp has in/out connections.

Can I connect SX-850 preamp out to SR-202 in to SX-202 out to SX-850 preamp in.

All speakers would be connected to SX-850.

The SX-850 manual shows a more complex example for preamps. But would this setup work?

Why?... I just like the way the SR-202 looks. I would mostly have it inactive for audio, but lit up. I occasionally like some reverb the boing sound it makes when you hit it.

Thanks,

ft.

Re: Pioneer SX-850 with Pioneer SR-202 Reverb Amp as Preamp

What you are describing is that the 850 would be your Amp, not Preamp. Yes you would run cables from 850 pre-out jacks to the 202 in jacks. Then from the 202 out jacks back to the 850 main-in jacks.
This completes the loop inserting the reverb processor (not Amp) into the L+R audio signals.

To use the 850 as a preamp only, you would connect the pre-out jacks to another amp. And to use the 850 as an amp for a separate preamp, connect the separate preamp outputs to the main-in jacks of the 850.

Hope that makes sense?
