Sony HP-488 wiring speakers? Only one port for each speaker!?

Hi all,

I have recently bought a Yamaha 2010, some Bose 901 and it came with a Sony hp488 stereogramme.

I do not have the original speakers but have plenty of other low fi I was hoping to hook up,... until I noticed there is only one port on the back for each speaker!?

How do I hook up some more conventional speakers with two wires to this system?

I wondered if to hook only the pos red cable and maybe run the other to the earth post.

Please advise before I try my luck.

I do not have a owners manual.

Thanks, Jim

I have taken a few pics but can’t see how to upload them to this request?!

If they look anything like this, then you use a standard phono (RCA) plug with the positive to the center pin and negative to the outer ring.
