Sony TC-K 61 Cassette deck won't wind rewind.

I bought this used cassette deck (model indicated in the subject Field.) After a acouple of weeks of smooth operation, it will no longer Wind/rewind. Still Plays OK.
What could be the problem?

There may be an idler tire that controls FF/Rewind. It may be damaged/worn or possibly not engaging the capstan on the motor. Could be a mechanical problem or just need cleaning of the rubber tire. I just use alcohol to clean the rubber.

On some of these decks you will need to remove a metal panel that sits just behind the cassette tape; the idler is under this panel.

I believe the ff/rew idler is a gear type on these. make sure it free wheels from side to side when you activate either ff/rew or play. Sometimes the cloth pressure clutch get tight. I am 99% sure it's not a rubber idler type. It's driven off a dedicated reel motor if memory serves.
If the wheel is tight, you may need to remove some of the tension between the two halves.
