TEAC A-BX10 Transistors

Restoring a TEAC a-BX10.

Have a bad BUP 40 transistor. Can't find a direct replacement in the US.
Does anyone know where I can find a direct replacement or equal substitute.

Thanks

Re: TEAC A-BX10 Transistors

Alltransistor on the web claims the BUP 400, 401, 402 and 403 are subs, but I recommend getting the specs on all of them first. There is no BUP 40 on eBay now, but the others are listed by various sellers. You might try calling TEAC for an authorized servicer who can get the original part (9A05206900).

Re: TEAC A-BX10 Transistors

Thanks Jhonnysan,

Looked at the specs on the 400 series doesn't even look close to the 40 in my opinion.
400 series looks like a switching device to me.
Great idea in contacting TEAC. I'll post how I do with TEAC.

Thanks

Been a week or so now!!
No reply for TEAC technical support!!
Back to square one!

Re: TEAC A-BX10 Transistors

I looked at the schematic again; Q317 and 217 are BUP40. They appear to be driver transistors; the others in the circuit are Q315 and 215, which are 2SC3420bl, which sub to a NTE2513. So, the BUP40 would be a PNP transistor and the complement to that is an NTE2514. I recommend you get both of these and replace them as a pair.

Re: TEAC A-BX10 Transistors

Thanks,
Yes the BUP40 is a PNP. Will check the spec's on the NTE2314 maybe easyer to get than the BUP40.
Found a place to buy the BuP40, transistorfet.com $3ea. may go that route.
Thanks Again

By the way, think I'll stick to tube repair in the future. :)
