Technics RS-T10 KEK

I have a Technics RS-T10 twin cassette deck which records a regular 'tick' at approx 3 second intervals. It seems to me that it is picking this up from the mechanical (i.e. drive and/or associated components). I can't find where this is coming from.
Can anyone help please? This tape deck is used to record church services and particularly funeral services and the 'tick' is very noticeable during the quieter parts of the services, so any help would be most appreciated.

Re: Technics RS-T10 KEK

It is possible that the drive motor is building up a static charge that is causing the noise. You can try connecting a .01uf capacitor from the motor case to ground of the deck. Do not connect the motor case directly to ground.
