technics sr 5270 scratchy channel

Bought one of these, cleaned the pots, but did not take care of the scratching on the right channel. From reading, I learned cap replacement is in order. How difficult for me, a newbie, to do? And can I get by with changing the cap that affects only that channel and not all the pots?

SR ??? or SA ???

If SA ... (tuner-amp) ...
I think it is possible to separate the main-amp from the pre-amp ... (signal path only)
probably faulty "C"
If main-amp signal is going to the speakers through a hich cap (1000mf) change that first
good luck with your repair!!!

Depends on where the 'scratching' noise is coming from. The last amplifier noise problem I worked on was in the tone control circuit; I would have bet it was a bad transistor--turned out to be poor soldering on a transistor lead.
Does the noise occur all the time (without moving controls and no input)?
Since the problem is only one channel it probably isn't power supply related. Could be a bad capacitor; sometimes you can move components while listening with headphones and find the bad part (short the input RCAs so you know the source is internal). Might be a bad ground also.
I would first solder any connections that looked funny, and go from there.
