Yamaha C2a SM anyone ?

Hi all,
the site has pages on Yamaha's C-2 and C-2x pre-amps.
Here in Germany, i believe the most-sold unit was the C-2a.
All three seem to have different knob/switches layout in an otherwise similar 1HU case, not sure if the C-2 or the C-2x manual would do for the C-2a also?
kind regards, Ralph

Re: Yamaha C2a SM anyone ?

I have the C2 manual, did not know the one on this site was not complete. post here if you want it

Re: Yamaha C2a SM anyone ?

Stone Cat:

see if your C-2 documentation depicts a rotary control for Muting (next to the volume/balance pots). If so, your manual would be very helpful indeed.

Hi Stone Cat,

I don't need the manual but in the interest of keeping HifiEngine complete, please upload anything you have that doesn't already exist here.

Re: Yamaha C2a SM anyone ?

There is a C-2a SM here on HifiEngine. Look on the C-2 page. Let us know if that SM is different than the model sold in Germany.

Re: Yamaha C2a SM anyone ?

Thanks for the hint, Bob
The C-2a SM is exactly what i looked for.

Confusing to find the C-2a documentation on the C-2 page. The units are completely different animals.

C-2a has an addn'l amplifier just to generate&amplify RIAA feedback into the Phono-EQ amp input. Quite unique.
The MC head amp of C-2 is a monolitic SIL OpAmp, whereas my C-2a uses 4ea paralleled Rohm's low-Rbb discrete 2SB737/2SD786 TO-92 types. C-2a should best have it's own page. Or if not possible move to the C-2x page, as it is perhaps closer to that unit's architecture

To make things more complicated:
While i was looking at the C-2, i noticed there are actually two different versions of C-2. An earlier version of it (that is maybe/maybe not different internally) uses a rotary switch for muting next the the volume/bal control. The C-2 documented here on HFE has the characteristic toggle next to the volume/balance. Will try to upload a pic to the C-2 page

Thanks again, Ralph

EDIT: did not see how i could add a pic to the C-2 page. Uploaded to Gallery instead
