can you give me a few ideas about cleaning audio cases for my Yamaha cassette and tuner

I have attached a photo of some Yamaha hi fi components- I really like Yamaha as Ive had a CD player for nearly 15 years and still plays amazingly- so I came across a cassette deck and tuner for 40 dollars not in the best cosmetic sense but powers up fine. I would like to restore them.

Do you think from the image that I would be able to restore the surfaces on these models and how would you go about it? Should I take it apart and give it a dusting? Could I repair it myself with the manual PDFs if need be?

I have never done this before but would love to restore them inside and out.

Regards and thanks for the great site. Alan

Re: can you give me a few ideas about cleaning audio cases ...

For the external surfaces outside , you can try water with a "little" detergent or windex. Use soft cotton cloth. Dry off / buff with fresh cotton cloth. Try 1st on rear corner. You can dismantle fascia & clean knobs & crevices. Watch clear plastic cleaning particularly - VU meter, counter & cassette door. Internal clean with compressed air or soft brush - shouldn't be too dusty. Clean / service Cassette compartment ( when door off or fascia removed ) with a Q-tip as above & rubbing alcohol for the mechanical areas , Heads , tape path & pinch roller. Polish RCA rear sockets & coat with Deoxit D5. Checkout Audiokarma for more help. All the best
