Re: Heathkit IM-5258 Harmonic Distortion Analyzer

I built this kit in the late 1970s and it still works quite well - for some things. For magnetic tape, it can be erratic for all but very low wow&flutter tape machines. And for some unknown (to me) reason, Hafler P1000 & P3000 class AB solid state professional amplifiers return a high (10%+) reading that audibly is not evident. Yet for a new Crown XTi4002 digital power amplifier delivering 100w into a dummy load it measured a believable 0.04%, cf. an older XTI4000 it read 0.07%. So believable readings (confirmed at least by listening) are likely accurate. What might be an economical new\used replacement?
