Aiwa Excelia XK-007

Most of the quality features of the Aiwa XK-009 are also found in the XK-007 for a correspondingly high level of performance.

The heart of the XK-007 is a 3-head design using super DX recording and playback heads.

The cores are wound with high conductivity PC-OCC copper wire that surpasses the performance of conventional OFC formulations for an improvement in music fidelity.

trying to find manual for aiwa xk-009 excelia

trying to find manual for aiwa xk-009 excelia cassette deck
the index keeps throwing me out to google the xk-007 would do
plays fast forward plays fast reverse BUT when I press play it spools out inch or two of tape and stops
anyone any ideas

aiwa xk-009

Two reasons may cause that symtom of your Exelia Xk-009:
Fast forward/rewind Ok but play 1-2 inch tapes than stops

1. By play mode the small belt from play reel motor drives the right reel table to spool tapes. This small belt were worn out , stretched or gets loose. The reel table therefore stops, the tape sensors find no tape transport and the machine stops. You must replace it.

2. In case this small belt is OK, but the deck nevertheless stop because the head block is put up too strong against the cassette tape by play mode, tapes are to tight against play head and can not transported. That may be caused from changed spring force in the cam drive in the back of the whole mecha-block due to long time existance. I have two XK-007 with this case and to repair it i put a small plastic piece in the head block. When the head block goes up by play mode this plastic piece (it must be modified to the right dimensions)stands against tape tape shell the tapes contact the head slightly and both machines play now Ok. This is not a good repair method but i can not find spare part and replacing it is not a easy work indeed because this aiwa mecha-block is right complicated.

good luck

Aiwa Ex 007 plyas 2 sec than stops

Its exactly how you described in 1.
How to replace the small belt? Does anyone have a drawing of the belts?

Aiwa xk-007

Aiwa XK-007 does not use a separate small belt to drive the right spool by play mode like in XK-009.
XK-007 uses a small idler (OD appr. 1,403cm, ID appr. 1,08mm) to drive spooling by play mode or FF/FW.
So you do no need to find a small belt like in XK-009. maybe you should check the idler fo wearing or the dirty opto-sensor behind.
Aso incorrect capstan belts(2 pcs) can cause the problem(in most case if the rubber idler is OK)
