The Akai AA-1030 was the second HiFi receiver I´ve ever bought, back in the 70´s i Stockholm. I used for 20 years, then stored it for another 20 years, and now that I´m going back to the analogue world again, I brought it back to life. It is truly a fantastic receiver and it still sounds outstanding even after 20 years in storage. I know I should probably change a few caps etc, but there is nothing indicating even the slightest fault. Quality through and through, and the 30W is quite enough for good listening. Plus the fact that you can connect a great number of equipment, like my two record players, two tape players, CD, and even an iPad for Spotify listening. So, I will stop looking for a replacement, the AA-1030 is to me perfect.

In my opinion this receiver easily annihilates any other vintage gear (With the same wattage) Harman Kardon, Marantz,Pioneer and Sansui and the like. I have consistently bought in low powered receivers from the 70`s . Have had them all and tested against KEF Reference 101. This came in last month and for once it ticked ALL the boxes . Akai did everything right.

I am very pleased with the sound from this receiver. And it looks good to, with the shiny silver face plate and wood cabinet. The radio reception is also very sensitive.
The build quality is outstanding on this old scool Akai receivers! A very solid construction with metal knobs and buttons, which gives a very nice feel.
As an extra feature, this model has two phono inputs for the odd occasion you want to connect two record players.
I really recommend this receiver!

re: AA-1030

Its a decent reliable receiver but the sound isn't that detailed or transparent
