I too was given an Akai X-355 - that had been stored outdoors in a shed in Alaska for over fifteen years. Plugged it in and it fired right up - gave good service for over 18 months with no servicing. I think a resistor burned - not serious but now I'll get it serviced for the next fifty years!

I just was given one of these. Yes given, 2 people have owned it over the last 25 years and it never worked for them. Well the play and record belt was off. Sounds great.. Not bad for a unit that is 50 years old... I think they came out in 1967..
