I just purchased one of these recently and I have to say that I am very happy with it..it has a really versatile laser being able to play various Formats including MP3 data Discs..i have thoughrilly tested it with every kind of disc imaginable and I have to say it has played most of them//its also not fussy when it come to CDr's/DVD'r it played every type +/- that I put in the drawer apart from Maxell CD-R discs it would not play a single one of them I tried every which way using different burning engines , burning slowly and quickly..it just didn't recognise these particular brand.
I have to say the sound quality of the CD player is wonderful and is a step up from my already stunning Pioneer DV-717 player..I listen to Jazz, Prog, Folk Rock and Blues and it seems tailor made for these kinds of music with a spacious sound stage excellent well balanced mids/highs and a nice rounded Bass with good instrument separation.
It is equally as accomplished at playing DVD's bearing in mind it does not have a HDMI port however I connected it to my 1080P HDTV via the component video out to the in on the TV with very pleasing results and high quality component cables can be purchased on EBay and elsewhere for very reasonable prices these days as it is considered an old outdated format
The Build quality is very good and once connected to your Amplifier/HDTV with good Quality interconnects you will be very please with the results both aurally and visually

A real DiVA

I was looking for a decent used CD player to build up a second system for 6 months, with 2 lemons in my way. I was about to give up and buy a new but mediocre unit due to my budget, I luckily found this unit near my city at a ridiculous price in excellent condition. Coming from low to medium class CD players this kind of product is a revelation, in the best sense. Let me explain myself. The art of the Hi-Fi search, IMHO, lies on one fundamental principle, relistening. Every time I set up a system I test my old discs, plus maybe some new incorporations. In those cases, when under your controlled environment, you introduce a new element of the triumvirate (source, amp, and loudspeakers) and something magical happens, you know you have found it. That personal excitement and pleasure of the revelation, those subtle instrumental sounds and positions of players in the scene that are revealed when a real new hero enter the scene, you probably know what I am talking about. Those discs that you swear you know by heart and boom! New stuff in them... unbelievable...

So, in the end, I have changed my mind, this baby won't go to the second system, I will definitively let it paired with the Dali Speakers and a restored NAD Model 200 of my main room and dedicate myself a few years to the art of relistening.
