The Bang & Olufsen RL60 is a great sounding speaker that unfortunately did not age well. In particular, the Auxiliary Bass Radiator tended to deteriorate in just a few years, prompting B&O to release a tuned port conversion, which alas, is no longer available. After failing nearly 30 years ago and being stored away since, mine in original deteriorated condition were fairly easy to restore. With fresh ABRs and crossover caps RL60 pack a wallop, punching out enough power to cause feedback through a similarly restored Beocenter 7700's suspended turntable at only moderate volume (38/60) if they are anywhere near the turntable. Otherwise, RL60 remains crisp clear and detailed even at high volume. The ABRs can be felt through the speaker cloth and they MOVE. When hooked to a TV through the Beocenter, they put a mid-priced soundbar + subwoofer to shame for movie soundtracks.
Are there better speakers? Of course! But the RL60 can still be a fantastic speaker if well maintained. Not too large, but big enough to make wonderful sound, and a unique style as well.
