After nitpicking my way through the new generation of integrated amps with on board DAC's, I was lead to the NAD, Yamaha, Marantz, Peachtree, Teac to name a few. I really wanted some specific features like A/B speaker connects, quality DAC, adequate power, and great sound.
I have NAD and Yamaha amps, previous generations, and was willing to try a Cambridge Audio based on the positive feedback I had come across.
I am driving 2 large ADS speakers, with my PC doing most of the source for music, the connectivity was easy (a simple USB), and the sound has be nothing short of fantastic, the best I have heard these speakers. Cambridge Audio really has a winner with this CXA line, this is 80 watts per channel, but a muscular 80, coming from a dual mono design with class A/B amp rating. There are no TT inputs or Bluetooth features, but I have a dedicated TT analogue system if I want to spin vinyl, radio or tape.
This is my connection with modern audio, and the future, for which it is an excellent performer.
