I have to agree with the other review posted here on this absolute cracking gem of an amplifier. These routinely sell for 1000 pounds in the Japanese market where they are famous, especially for their lovely phono section. I paid 200 from ebay from mine because of that rubbish What HiFi review... they always put down non English gear. I first heard it in Greece where I was looking at the 1000 euro range in early 90's and was stunned, floored even then. The closest thing I've heard to this amp in recent memory was a friends Leema Tucana SE... a 5500 pound amp now. I kid not these are the bargain of the century. Full remote, great phono, pre outs, bi amping possible, fantastic kit. Clear, highly resolved, and powerful!... its little brother (which is just half the A57 amp section) the I57, is a Stereophile magazine class A recommended piece ... and this is the same amp with twice the power... ridiculous it isn't better known. A testament to the cult of what hifi, lol. Great for me... I'll buy the next one that comes up for a song too.

I have to disagree with the UK hi-fi magazine What Hi-Fi who gave this amp a 2** rating. Were they listening with cotton wool in their ears ??
I find this amp powerful, quick and with a decisive attack and clarity. I would agree with the Hi-Fi + review that regarded this amplifier as something of a hi-fi bargain. I used it with the Carat C57 cd player and was impressed however when i then upgraded the CD player to the Roksan Oxygene WOW this amp performed even better. It has bettered an AVI pre and power combination and a Lin pre and power and in my opinion blew away the dedicated Roksan Oxygene amplifier. So much so i sold the Oxygene amp and retained the Carat amplifier.
A hidden gem and an underrated Gem.
Can be bought cheaply due to rubbish UK review. Grab a bargain.
