Superb Audio on Pure Direct.
Just make sure you select Large front speakers or you will be disappointed.
Many users make that mistake and blame the unit for flat sound.

I have had this AV amp and the associated POA-T10 power amp since the late 1990s and I still use it today.

For films it is fantastic, I use it with Bower & Wilkins MT-50 speakers (sat/sub). OK, it doesn't have HD video capabilities but then I have never used the amp to switch video sources, these have always gone straight to the TV. It also doesn't have the latest Dolby and DTS decoders (but it does 7.1) and let's be honest, trying to get acceptance for 5.1 is bad enough in the lounge, anything more is just a non-starter with most spouses!

The THX adds some more oomph to soundtracks and the flexibility of the digital inputs is great.

I wouldn't sell my pairing for the world!

re: AVC-A10SE

I bought a pre owned Denon AVC-A10SE for a couple of month ago but the user manual was missing. I would appreciate it very much if someone out there, who has the manual, could upload it here.

Today it's paired up with Bang & Olufsen's BeoVox S45 speakers. I don't know if the speakers can live up to it or not but I hoped for more bass in the Pure Direct mode.
Or could it be that the amp isn't correctly configured (Braam van Zyl wrote ..."select Large front speakers or you will disapponted")?
Maybe I need a sub together with the pair of S45 speakers for more depth, regardless of which amp I use, or???

re: AVC-A10SE

I would DEFINATELY recommend a subwoofer to give you the full sound.
It is also recommended to use larger than bookshelf speaker as your main set and Centre.
The back and surrounds can be bookshelf.
The setup is quite tricky - you will need the manual.
I have the AVR-4800 manual which is identical, save for the receiver part.
Download it from the HIFI engine database.
Good luck and enjoy!
