In the context of what it can be picked up for, the Denon deserves a 10 - from the perspective of someone whose sole interest is 2 channel (even as a film lover).

There is serious power for difficult loads, which manifests itself in great control of bass transients, etc.

It's character is smooth not analytical which is not my preference, but the underlying quality is obvious.

All channels have identical power, and I can imagine the surround experience might be quite impressive!

I was unimpressed by the sound of the processing, however the direct mode is apparently purely analogue and very good. I'm not sure it's possible to drive all channels with it though.

Anyway, I bought this for remote convenience and for the fact that they are recent enough to not need work, but I'd choose my older Sony ES over it for sound quality any day of the week - especially for headphones.
Still, I would say it probably betters the QS stereo amps.

In fact, if I had to recommend any sub £100 second hand amp from 2000-2005 for stereo, I'd bet this was among the best.
