$8 Yard Sale special. I had my doubts at it's plain black appearance but make no mistake this is a quality unit. I'm a fan of 70's aluminum and was using it as a disposa-receiver to replace a HK 430 that was down for a cleaning. I'm using it as a TV stereo, with a pair of Infinity RS1's and an old KLH Cannon behind the couch. WOW after sitting in my damp basement for 2 years it fired right up, no scratchy controls, no fuzztone, all the buttons, pots and Leds worked perfectly. It's a mix of analog and digital but it's still has a good sized transformer and has some HEFT. The knob controls work smooth and the giant volume knob is a nice touch. The digital part is the AM/FM and their pre-sets, and it pulls in the FM quite well with a minimal antenna, and I'm out in the bdocks. There was a remote, it's gone but the controls do the job just fine. It is rated at 48 watts and they aren't puny printed circuit new school watts. It makes some decibels, REALLY clean and crisp right up to 90% volume and you can crank the bass up too. The Infinity's are powerhogs for small speakers so they are a good match. I'd have to say it has a thinner sound than the HK430, but the HK has more balls than any vintage receiver in the same power range (IMHO). The Denon is pleasant to listen to, I'm going to enjoy it. Great Receiver!
