If you want a multiformat player for CDs, SACDs and DVD-A then these are a bargain second hand.

Sound quality EASILY as good as my much newer Cambridge Audio Azur 751 player, just less compatible.

re: DVD-3930

Nice machine. Common fault is the laser mech gets fatigued, this is diagnosed with annoying loading time, often not loading at all, you can hear the laser drive constantly trying to align. These are easy to replace and now very cheap. A simple modular design with no alignment necessary. A 20 minute job that a careful novice can do. Instructions with pictures on-line.

re: DVD-3930

Hiya... Did you replace just the laser or the complete Traverse Mechanism? And how do I know exactly what it is I need? I decline to do this myself, as I opened it up & seem to have hit a roadblock.
Thanks, Kenny

re: DVD-3930

Hmmm.... Is getting & installing either just the laser or the whole traverse mechanism something a pretty handy person could do without the need for alignment? And how would I determine which way to go? Thanks

re: DVD-3930ci Laser Mechanism

Hi, I'm new to this group, & I am in desperate need of info on fixing my unit. Diagnosed with a weak laser for DVD's but plays all CD/SACD flawlessly, Denon no longer makes this "Traverse Mechanism". An exhausting all day web search turned up some European companies that claim to carry it, & I wrote them, but I did find a place in GA. that took my order, claiming that if it were indeed N/A, the system would disallow the purchase, so I'll see where that goes. As far as the evil Ebay goes, 3 ot 4 laser 'modules' I found are in the $16-23 range. Too good to be true?! The one from GA. was $73, & I'll know in 10 days how lucky I am, or am not. Does it sound as if I need what's known as the 'Traverse Laser Mechanism', and that anything at $23 is probaby not going to work? You did mention that they were cheap these days. I want to be sure I'm chasing the right dragon. Any thoughts, ideas or prayers?
Thanks for your attention.
