I've had some very decent Integrateds, but this Denon PMA-550 has been the most versatile. Power wise, it has virtually maxed my wattage meter @ 200 watts many times during the Volume UP moments.
The highs are amazingly accurate without ever being harsh or exaggerated and the Mids are precisely seperated in detail. Bass is not a problem as long as I bypass my tone controls with the Direct setting. I also have to add.....I use an EQ for my very imperfect room.
I am very happy with this amp and will be one of my main setups for years to come.....bought last December 2018 and is now November 2019 and it only overheated once before I realized I had my Tapedeck too close to the cooling areas, blocking the process.

Fantastic amplifier, massive amounts of power more than it's rated for, around 180 Watts Per Channel at 8 Ohms at 1 KHz. Superb build, not too hard to work on, easy to find all the parts for, amazing clean sound. Decent Phono Preamplifiers, with good sound, though they're much quieter than a 2 Volt Line-Level signal. Headphone amplifier pulls off the mains for the amp, so you get tremendous detail and definition. Amp's only downside is that it gets very hot after a while.

re: PMA-550

I have a PMA-530, fantastic ! You don't want to use it during an hot summer though. For the heating issue check the Idle current, it might be deranged. You'll find the procedure in the service manual, after the right adjustment it might get better.

re: PMA-550

I'm looking for a part for this amplifier: 1 loudspeaker terminal.
Do you know where I can find this?

Many thanks in advance.
